Now With Added Backness!

Posted Monday, April 25, 2005

So I've finally reformatted all my old pages to work without PHP, and uploaded them accordingly. That means that everything is back online for the first time in a few months :)

Also, you might (or not) notice that any comments that I make on this blog are now higlighted to make them stand out a bit (see here for example). It's done through a little bit of javascript, which you should feel free to have a look at and put to use on your own blog if you want. I've tested it in Firefox and IE, hopefully it works in other browsers as well...

GFXMonk.com: "it's DOT TK"

Posted Tuesday, April 19, 2005

This is just a quick post to say that GFXMonk is back! woo (and yay, and houpla too I suppose). It's on a different host now, accessible through www.gfxmonk.tk

What's that you say? it's crap? Well yes, I haven't got much working yet (in fact this is pretty much the only page that exists). Gimme some time :P

Meanwhile, you can access my numous creations in the following places:

  • iRank @ iRank.tk ***This is new - Check it out this minute, or you may be attacked by ninjas!
  • Life In a Box @ archive.org (my big animation)
  • Various Art @ DeviantArt
  • That Damn Unicycle Game @ pepere.org (it killed my site last time, so me and the .swf aren't currently on speaking terms)
  • Photos @ flickr (not many up yet, but I plan to add my old ones soon)
  • LinkFeed @ del.icio.us (this is also new, but a bit less exciting than the rest...)

Also, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with this whole website business. Having moved to a free host which doesn't support PHP, it would seem I have to convert all my pages to static HTML. Its probably not all that hard, it's just boring... For this reason I may try to keep the non-bloggy content of this site scattered across various services (flickr, deviantart, etc) who do all the boring HTML work for me. Of course I will still announce new content through this blog though...

Back Again (with piccies)

Grasshopper Plane Trails

Hooray, the site is back! Hopefully whatever was causing thousands of people to hammer the highscores.xml file has now stopped and I won't again run out of bandwidth in the first 3 days of the month. Hopefully...

While The site was down, I did some stuff.
More specifically, I did some uni, and then had a week off for easter. I got my hands on the student licence of Visual Studio.NET, and I have to say I'm very impressed. I still loathe the fact that everyone has to have the .huge NET runtimes installed in order to run the programs you make, but the IDE itself is wonderful.
So I've finally been able to get a fair way with my iTunes custom ratings idea, it's actually come together pretty quickly. More on that later though.

I also went on a fairly lazy hike up Mt Howitt, and got some pretty cool photos while I was there - which you can see above and which I have also added to the photo gallery. That's kinda a big deal, cos I haven't actually updated the gallery for nearly a year...

Finally, I also got enthusiastic about del.icio.us. I may be a bit late to the party, but I'm finding it to be a much better way of sharing and organising links that I like. If you want to see what those links are, I'm sure you can probably guess my username...
