Bandwidth Issues

Posted Tuesday, January 25, 2005

Well, I never thought I'd have to deal with bandwidth issues, since my site used to get maybe 10 visits per day. But in the past week I've had over 500 unique hits per day, and managed to hit the 2GB limit last night. I pleaded with my host to let me have a little more this month, so the site is back up. I've decided to take down my animations for now, because they were taking up about half my bandwidth. I hope to get them back sometime soon, and any help with this would be appreciated.

Update: I've successfully submitted my movies to the Internet Archive, who are now kindly hosting them for free.

Wow, that's something wild. It is a good feeling, is it not?

Neatly Sliced has NEVER received that many unique hits in a day. What's your secret?

It's a good feeling, but a bit sad that I've had to take some stuff down... The secret seems to be to create a highly addictive flash game that everyone steals, and put a link back to your site in it ;)

Very frustrating for you though when you want to access your own site and can't. Well, I hope it doesn't happen again too soon. Nice to be popular but.....even that has it's limits huh? BTW, great game you have! Cheers and hugs ((((Tim))))

I must admit, I felt a bit guilty for linking to you after I noticed your site down. I thought, not only did I link to you on my site, but I also linked to you on my college's message forums!

Sad face, all apologies.

Lol, nobody should ever feel guilty linking to me, I love it :P

But the majority of traffic came from mega-sites like ebaumsworld.com and the like...

What? You mean my little rinky dink site didn't shut you down?

No, I'm just kidding. I knew that I had little or no impact on the deal. Still, a tinge of guiltiness crept through.

Make more flash games! Unicycle Challenge is great for while I'm sitting at work with nothing to do. I've already converted two people into addicts.

Mightily impressive traffic O_O
Geez why are people complaining? It's better to have had traffic and lost your bandwidth than never to have had traffic at all!
